'Thalaivan' MS Dhoni Will Take Care Of The Team, Says CSK CEO After Raina, Harbhajan Pull Out Of IPL 2020

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were the last team to begin their pre-season camp in Dubai last week after players and support staff were asked to serve extended quarantine. CSK's IPL contingent was rocked by 13 cases of the novel coronavirus which came as a huge setback for the three-time champions as they were looking to start training in the final week of August. However, the 13 members, who had tested positive have been isolated now and the rest of the squad has begun training after undergoing rounds of testing.

It has been a difficult couple of weeks for CSK in UAE with two veteran players pulling out of IPL 2020 before the start of the season. After Suresh Raina returned home from UAE due to personal reasons, senior spinner Harbhajan Singh also pulled out of the tournament citing personal reasons. CSK will be missing the presence of both veterans in the upcoming season.

Nonetheless, the team is in good spirits and is looking forward to the tournament assured CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan in a video message to the fans of the Yellow Army around the world. Viswanathan expressed his confidence in captain MS Dhoni and said that the 'Thalaivan' will take care of the team in UAE. He further stated that Dhoni has taken the team through many difficult situations and will look after the players.

"This is to confirm that the team is in very good shape, we need not worry. We have a skipper who have navigated us through very tough times. Thalaivan will definitely take care of the team and we are very confident, we have started practice from yesterday, a day before," said the CSK CEO.

"The players are also in quite good spirit. They have had regular Zoom meetings where the coach and captain have addressed the players and all of them are in a good frame of mind. We will come out of the tough situation and very happy to report that team is in very good shape to take care of the matches coming up in the IPL," he added.

The CSK CEO also urged the fans from India and Dubai to keep rooting for the three-time champions, who are confident of doing well in IPL 2020 and will be aiming to lift their 4th trophy after missing out closely last year.

"I am very confident that the Chennai Super Kings fan club will definitely look up to the team which is very confident of doing well and I sure that the 'yellow fever' will catch up throughout the country and also in Dubai where we have a very good following. Fans of CSK are very important to team and we look forward to your support," said Viswanathan.

Chennai Super Kings will be opening their IPL 2020 campaign against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi on September 19. The blockbuster game will also mark the start of the upcoming season which will be played entirely in UAE.
