IPL 2020: CSK Could Play MI In Tournament Opener After Players Test Negative



This is great news for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) and especially for the Chennai Super Kings fans. CSK team which underwent a Covid-19 test on Thursday morning, have all test negative. The entire CSK squad san players who are currently in quarantine can now begin practice.

CSK is now allowed to move out for practice which may start either on Friday or Saturday according to the CSK CEO present with the squad currently.

“We are so relieved with the negative tests. We will start practice either on Friday noon or Saturday morning as per the decision of coach and the captain”, said Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of CSK to InsideSport.

Meanwhile, the two CSK players Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad who had tested positive last week are staying in a separate hotel and will have to undergo two fresh tests after their two-week quarantine. Post that only, they will be allowed to step out for practice.

With all players tested negative, CSK is also looking forward to play the opening game of the IPL 2020 against defending champions Mumbai Indians.

According to the sources, the marquee clash between the two giants of IPL is now likely to go ahead. The official fixtures would be announced on Friday, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly announced on Thursday.

CSK has informed the governing council that they were “game” with playing the match.

“We never had a problem with playing the opening game of IPL 2020. It will be the IPL Governing Council decision. We are game for the opener against the Mumbai Indians”, said CSK CEO

Sources also said that the tournament will be held across three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and all 60 matches will be held.

Meanwhile, the much awaited and delayed schedule of the Indian Premier League will be released today. BCCI president Ganguly declared on Thursday that if all goes well, schedule will be released on Friday.

“We understand schedules are delayed. It is almost on the verge of getting final and should be released by Friday”, said Ganguly.

The BCCI has been handed exemption from quarantine for all the franchise and now players will not have to self-isolate upon travelling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi or Sharjah to Abu Dhabi. However, everyone associated with IPL 2020 will have to maintain the strict protocols linked to the bio-secure environment created by the respective franchises.

With all decks cleared now in regard to the permission IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel will release the schedule today in Dubai.

It has also been learnt that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will be in Dubai on Tuesday to personally look after the preparations and subsequently start of IPL 2020.

Zomato, Swiggy score 1/10 on working conditions for their workers – ET Retail

Some of India's biggest startups have ranked near the bottom when it comes to  working conditions  for their gig  workers , according to a report released Wednesday. Times Internet posts 24% revenue jump to Rs 1,625 Cr in FY20

  Times Internet has posted a 24% jump in its annual revenue in the financial year ending March, recording Rs 1,625 crore in revenue in FY20. In its annual report, the company  said the revenue growth has been adjusted for seasonality of cricket events. In FY19, it had posted revenues of $196 million. The company has registered a surge across its revenue streams i.e. advertising revenue, subscribers, transaction revenue and gross merchandise value (GMV) in the last fiscal year. While advertising revenue grew 22% with faster growth in music and video, overall subscribers to Times Prime grew 62%.  Times Internet’s annualized GMV in transacting businesses grew 68% with a 75% jump in net revenues, said the company in its annual report.
