Nazara to Shine as Online Gaming Picks up



Online Gaming: Stars are aligned for a strong uptake Unlike other Asian economies (like China, Korea etc), India till now has not shown major uptake in online gaming. But now with improving telco infra, evolving gaming ecosystem & with huge Millennial/Gen Z base we see growth picking up. Recent lockdown led to a strong uptake in online gaming. Monetization though may take time given nascent stage of the market. India online gaming could be classified as 1) Casual gaming ($630 mn in 2019); 2) Skill based like Fantasy games & card based (2019: $620 mn) and 3) PC/console based (2019: $650 mn). The overall gaming industry was $1.9bn in 2019 and is expected to be $8.4bn in 2024 (35% CAGR) as per Redseer, with Fantasy games growing fastest. Regulation is an overhang & could improve. Indian laws permit game of skill but not game of chance. Fantasy games have been banned/have limited access in 5 states. Some of India gaming cos are Gametion, Nazara, Dream11, Octro, Moonfrog labs.

Nazara games is a diversified gaming company which offers subscription games, Freemium, E-sports and Real money sports.in Dec-19, Nazara had 50mn MAU users in freemium offering across Cricket and Kids categories. Key games:

1) Its flagship game is World Cricket Championship (WCC). Other games include Chhota Bheem, Motu Patlu, Beat the Robo, Mighty Raju as the key offerings in Kids freemium; 

2) The company has a kids subscription app called Kiddopia which caters to pre-school kids and parents who want safe content with some learning and entertainment;

3) HalaPlay in the real money segment is the second largest fantasy platform in India;

4) Qunami is company’s social multiplayer quiz offering.

Nazara is also building a ‘friends of Nazara’ ecosystem, where it wants to partner with like-minded founders & where it could have synergies. Nazara also has stakes in Nodwin Gaming, Paper Boat Apps, Sports Unity, Sportskeeda, Backbuck & HalaPlay.

TCS merger with TCS e serve

The board of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in its meeting on 18 October 2012 has approved the composite scheme of arrangement between TCS, TCS e-Serve (e-Serve) and TCS e-Serve International (TEIL). The composite scheme of arrangement provides for merger of e-Serve into TCS and demerger of TEIL's special economic zone (SEZ) undertaking(s) to TCS. The appointed date proposed for this scheme is 01 April 2013. TCS holds 96.26% of the paid up equity share capital of e-Serve. TEIL is a wholly owned subsidiary of e-Serve. As per the terms of the scheme of arrangement, shareholders of e-Serve (other than TCS) will receive 13 equity shares of Re 1 each of TCS for every 4 equity shares of Rs 10 each of e-Serve held by them. Stock broker SMC Global files for IPO

F inancial services company SMC Global Securities has filed draft red herring prospectus with SEBI for public issue of 1,58,67,380 equity shares of face value of Rs 2 each. The issue comprises a fresh issue of 79,33,690 equity shares by the company and an offer for sale of 79,33,690 shares by Millennium India Acquisition Company Inc. As of September 30, 2012, "We service our broking clients through a network of 43 branches and 2,521 registered sub-brokers and authorized persons spread in more than 500 cities and towns.
