Hottest Indian startups of 2020, Paytm, Dreams 11 lead the charge: Wizikey Report

  Paytm  has topped the list of the 100 hottest startups of 2020, according to a report conducted by  Wizikey , a PR- SaaS startup. Interestingly, as per the The Hottest Startups of 2020 report, all the top ten startups on the list are unicorns, namely Paytm, Dream11, Zomato,  Ola , Swiggy, Big Basket, Oyo, Byjus, Snapdeal, and Unacademy (mentioned according to rank). Wizikey said Paytm tops the list in terms of creating the most consistent buzz throughout the year while Dream11 bags the title for prominence of its brand. Further, 19 of the top 100 startups are from the Fintech industry. The fairly new entrant in the startup world Cred swiftly found a spot at number 11 in a short span of time. Stellar DoorDash listing sets stage for Indian food delivery app Zomato IPO

  Investors are on a high, with jab sessions beginning in earnest in the UK, and expected to gradually spread worldwide soon. One clear sign of the euphoria is the massive listing gains of recent IPOs in the US. DoorDash Inc., an American online food delivery services firm, had an extraordinary debut, with a listing gain of over 80% from its issue price. The company, which posted a net loss of $149 million for the nine months ended September, listed with a market capitalization of $60 billion. For perspective: private investors had valued DoorDash at $16 billion in June. Based on the IPO pricing, the firm was valued at around $32 billion. Capgemini’s Massive Hiring Plan For India: 48,000 New Employees By 2021-End, Both Freshers, Experienced

  French IT services major, Capgemini whose more than half of the workforce is located in India, has onboarded over 45,000 employees globally this year through lateral hiring. Earlier, in the month of March, Ashwin Yardi, CEO of Capgemini said, “India forms a very important part of our business and we will hire 25,000-30,000 people here this year on a gross basis.” Recently in an Interview with  Business Insiders , Capgemini CHRO Pallavi Tyagi said, “I believe that lateral hiring will continue to increase. If the business plans and expansion happen as we’re expecting then to happen, then hiring is not going to slow down,” The company has no plans of slowing down. NSE To Launch Derivatives On Nifty Financial Services Index From Jan. 11

  National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on December 10 said it had received SEBI's approval to launch derivatives on the Nifty Financial Services Index. NSE will launch the index derivatives on the Nifty Financial Services Index from January 11, 2021. "NSE has received approval from SEBI to launch derivatives on the Nifty Financial Services Index in the futures & options segment of the Exchange. Currently, NSE offers index derivatives on only two equity indices – The Nifty50 index and the Nifty Bank index," the exchange said in a statement. The exchange will offer futures and options in 7 serial weekly, excluding the monthly expiry and 3 serial monthly contracts, NSE said. "This is the first time that the Exchange will make available weekly futures for the stock index derivatives. Suryoday Small Finance Bank files IPO papers with Sebi

  Suryoday Small Finance Bank Limited (SSFBL) has filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus for an  Initial Public Offer (IPO) of up to 20,061,796 equity shares of face value Rs 10 each. The SFB plans to utilise the net proceeds from the fresh issue towards augmenting the bank’s Tier – 1 capital base in order to meet the bank’s future capital requirements, SSFBL said in a statement. This issue will be made via a book-building process, with Axis Capital, ICICI Securities, SBI Capital Markets, and IIFL Securities being the merchant bankers of the issue. Shares of the bank will be listed on BSE and NSE. Those offering shares through the offer for sale (OFS) route include International Financial Corporation (IFC), Gaja Capital, HDFC Holdings, IDFC First Bank, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company, DWM (International) Mauritius Ltd, and Americorp Ventures. BCCL reports consolidated net loss of Rs 451.63 crore in FY20

  The Times group owned by Bennett Coleman and Company Ltd (BCCL) has posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 451.63 crore for the fiscal ended March 31, 2020, compared to a net profit of Rs 484.27 crore of the previous fiscal. As per data from business intelligence platform Tofler, BCCL’s revenue from the sale of publications declined to Rs 629.96 crore from Rs 656.09 cror while the Television distribution revenue marginally increased to Rs 40.17 crore from Rs 36.29 crore. Google Pay, PhonePe accounted for 86% of UPI transactions in Oct: NPCI

  Payments operators , Google Pay  and PhonePe, seem to have a stranglehold on the unified payments interface (UPI) market in India. According to October data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), published for the first time, Google Pay accounted for 857.81 million transactions, while PhonePe came in second with 839.88 million transactions. Together, the two apps accounted for about 81% of the market, the data shows. The data said  ₹ 1,65,654.71 crore worth of transactions happened through Google Pay in October, while  ₹ 1,68,085.06 crore worth of transactions took place through PhonePe. This made up for about 86% of total transaction value on UPI in October. While the data compiled was for the period before WhatsApp was allowed to roll out its payments feature in India, the platform seems to have barely made an impact during that period.
